Cat Team volunteers care for our healthy and sick felines by administering medication, cleaning cages, providing fresh food and litter each morning. There are also a wide variety of tasks that help support the cats like laundry and cleaning to support good sanitation practices. Many of our cats love to have their ears scratched and will accept any special attention. Two to three training shifts are required and you will then be added to the regular schedule.
We are looking for the following Volunteer Positions:
Intake: Take requests for help via phone, email, and social media, consult with coordinator(s). Foster Home Coordinator(s): Screen foster home applications, consult with foster homes and provide details on kittens arriving. Foster Home Support: Organize supply pick-ups and vet visits. Adoptions: Screen applications and complete kitten adoptions.
Our Dog teams come in for 2 shifts. Our goal is to have four volunteers per shift (two dog walkers, one handler/trainer, one shuffler/feeder). Our morning shifts are 9am to 12pm and then evening shifts are from 6pm to 9pm.
Take a look at our: Dog Program
We are looking for volunteers to join our dog team. Looking for exercise or to enjoy nature? Walk dogs on our beautiful rural property - cleaners and feeders needed too! Experience with large dogs is a plus! Volunteers needed for weekends as well as weekdays! We have morning and evening shifts available.
Socialization shifts are open to adults 18 and up and to a child (approximately 12+) with a supervising parent. Parent and child will need to attend the shelter for training with our coordinator who will then determine if the child and parent as a team are a good fit for socializing cats. To learn more, take a look at our: Socialization Program.
We are looking for: Potential volunteers for cats, cat socialization and small animals may fill in an application but will not be called until there is a vacancy.
We always have many items throughout the shelter that need repair, installation, removal etc., We could really use your help and expertise if you are a handy person.
There is grass to cut, flowers to tend and snow to shovel every year outside of the shelter also. A few hours of your time could make a big difference in shelter operations.
From attending and managing a booth at the Potato Festival to helping take pictures with Santa, there is something for everyone. If you love being out in the community and supporting our cause, we would love to have you join us. Your time and expertise will make every event more successful while bringing in much needed funds to support the animals' needs.
We are looking for: Volunteers for our fundraising team. If you have any skills that you think could help the shelter, apply today!
ADHS volunteer applications in all areas will be responded to after screening and when a suitable vacancy occurs. ADHS is taking volunteer applications and will be training accepted volunteers as required during stage 3 of the COVID-19 reopening.
