The Alliston & District Humane Society has been in operation since 1988 and is a volunteer organization with paid medical support.
The Alliston & District Humane Society opened its first permanent shelter and adoption centre on December 23, 2010. ADHS serves the townships of New Tecumseth, Mulmur and the villages of Cookstown, Rosemont, Hockley and the Town of Schomberg.
ADHS runs a dog program, a cat program and a small animal program at our shelter. As well, ADHS provides a Lost & Found reporting service, humane education programs and wildlife services to our communities.
The Alliston & District Humane Society (ADHS) attempts to provide shelter for stray and unwanted animals with priority given to abused and neglected animals. ADHS strives for a 100% adoption rate, with a NO KILL policy for all animals deemed adoptable. Those animals deemed 'unadoptable' by a veterinarian due to illness, severe injuries or unsuitable or dangerous temperament are humanely euthanized.
Many people contact us to take in their unwanted animals. Without the help of the public, we just don't have the money or space to take them all. There are many ways you can help! You can check our our page on ways to donate, or learn more about our volunteer opportunities.
