As a registered charity with Revenue Canada, all donations over $25 are tax deductible. Donations go towards the upkeep of our shelter and the animals in our care - whether it is for food, medical care due to injury or illness, or for spaying and neutering to increase the animal's chance for adoption. Small or large, every donation makes a difference in an animal's life.
Monthly giving provides dependable funding which gives the humane society a greater ability to commit to long-term projects that will help the animals in our community for many years to come. It’s simple to become a partner in animal welfare!

A donation can also be made at the shelter by debit or credit - the shelter is open 9am-4pm Monday to Friday (9-4 unless we're out doing vet run). Call us before you make the trip: (705) 458-9038
We are always in need of a wide variety of items at the shelter. Regular monthly donations help us keep our expenses minimal and let us help more animals in our community!
We are always gratefully accepting donations! Donations can be left at: Pet Valu Alliston, Pet Valu Angus or on the picnic table in front of the shelter.
If you are able to, and would like to help the homeless animals in our community, please consider picking up a few extra items while you are out shopping. The volunteers that work closely with the animals have compiled a list that they are in urgent need of and they are listed on our wishlist page.
We welcome and encourage individuals and organizations to run community events on our behalf. We have been very fortunate to have so many people support the work that we do and the programs that we offer by fundraising on our behalf. Third party events help us build relationships in the community and raise public awareness with new people we could not reach without you. This helps bring new donors, adopters and volunteers to the Humane Society, making the effect of your event that much wider!
As a third party event organizer, we encourage you to participate in an activity that you, your friends and your family will enjoy and, at the same time, support the work of the Humane Society. It doesn’t matter whether your event is large or small, there are infinite possibilities that support our mission.

For as little as $5 per month, you can help to provide accommodations, food and medical care to a homeless animal. To show our appreciation, your name will be prominently displayed on either an adoption cage or on our donor board. A receipt will be issued to you for income tax purposes.
Membership has many benefits. All membership fees are tax deductible and go towards the needs of the animals in our care. Theses fees also provide the shelter with a base of supporters that help us with our fundraising and awareness activities. You can purchase a membership on-line or you can print the application and deliver or mail it. You could become a member and help us help the animals for as little as $0.06 per day!!
Have you ever considered fostering pets in your home? We provide the food, YOU provide the love. A foster home provides one of our animals with a temporary home where it can feel like a valued family member. Foster homes not only spare animals from the stress of confinement in a cage in our shelter, but also provides them with a loving home environment and adequate socialization, which makes them more adoptable.
Most of our rescued animals stay in foster homes until adoption. Fostering can be the most rewarding and fulfilling experience for you! By fostering, you are helping to save the life of an unwanted animal. Fostering also gives you and/or your own pets the benefit of pet companionship without the worries of permanent ownership! There are also times when short-term medication foster homes are needed.

Legacy giving is crucial for our shelter because it allows us to secure our financial future and continue providing vital services to the community. When an animal lover includes our shelter in their will or estate plan, they are ensuring that our organization can continue to care for animals in need, even after they're gone. This type of support is especially important for us because we rely heavily on donations from the community to fund our operations and care for the hundreds of animals that come through our doors every year.
By leaving a legacy gift, donors can make a lasting impact on the lives of animals in our community. Legacy giving also allows donors to leave a lasting tribute to their love of animals, ensuring that their memory will continue to inspire and uplift others long after they're gone.
To leave a legacy at our shelter please reach out to us and we can discuss further.

The Canada Revenue Agency does not apply capital gains tax on donations of publicly traded securities. Capitals gains are the increase in the value of your securities over the price you paid at purchase.
When you sell your shares for cash, you’re responsible for the tax due on the gain, even if you plan to donate the proceeds from the sale. If you pay the tax out of those proceeds, there’s less money left to donate. Your charity receives a smaller donation and you have a smaller donation to claim for your charitable tax credit at the end of the year.
But when you donate your securities directly through CanadaHelps, those capital gains aren’t subject to tax. This means your charity receives a larger gift, and you’ll benefit from a tax receipt for the full value of your eligible securities or mutual funds.
Donate A Car Canada accepts vehicle donations for Alliston & District Humane Society. We provide free towing in many areas across Canada, or you can drop off your vehicle to maximize your donation. When you donate your RV, boat, motorcycle or other vehicle to Alliston & District Humane Society through Donate A Car Canada, it will either be recycled or sold at auction depending on its condition, age and location. Donate A Car Canada will look after all the details to make it easy for your Charity to benefit.
After your Vehicle Donation is complete, Alliston & District Humane Society will send you a tax receipt within 45 days!
